Stairlift Care: Simple Maintenance Tips

Quick answer

A little routine care goes a long way. Keep the rail and stairs clear, wipe the rail with a dry cloth, always park the lift on its charging point, and ride it regularly. If anything changes, like a new noise or a stop you can't explain, call us for service.

Everyday care

  1. Keep the rail and stairs clear. Shoes, bags, cords and rugs near the rail can touch the lift's safety sensors and stop it.
  2. Wipe the rail with a dry cloth. Dust and pet hair build up over time. Don't add oil, grease or lubricant unless your owner's manual tells you to. Follow your owner's manual for cleaning.
  3. Park on the charging point. Your lift charges its batteries when it's parked at the charging point. Send it back there after every ride.
  4. Keep the charger plugged in. Don't unplug the charger or switch off its outlet, even when you're away.
  5. Test it regularly. Take a ride from time to time, even if you don't use the lift every day, and make sure the seat belt, seat and footrest work smoothly.

When to call for service

Call 877-392-2531 or open a support ticket if the lift makes a new noise, moves unevenly, stops between floors, feels loose, beeps or shows a code, or won't charge. Our team will call you to discuss the issue and schedule service, usually within one business day.

Good to know

Don't remove covers or try to repair the lift yourself. Your owner's manual is the best guide to what's safe for you to do at home.
